Christian Education Principles For Teachers That Improve Learning

By Catherine Burns

To grow strong in the Lord, you don't have to depend solely on what you gather up for yourself during your personal studies. Even though this is unarguably important, you also need to be taught based on other people's experiences, especially those who try to live a conscientious life. When you find such tutors, especially those who know the Christian education principles for teachers, it is important not to let them go.

It is necessary that the teacher has some experience in whatever topic is to be taught. For example, if the topic is on "quiet time, " the teacher should be the type that doesn't joke with his or hers. This is because several questions will be asked and the extent to which justice would be done to them depends largely on the tutor's personal quiet time practice.

When answering the students' questions, the teacher should be calm and patient. He should realize that his main goal is for the students to draw closer to God. He should therefore not discourage them from asking questions or shun them when it appears the question looks irrelevant as this could prevent them from improving.

In fact, it wouldn't be bad to dedicate some time towards the end of every class for answering questions. By doing this, the students are prepared to ask whatever bothers them and even feel challenged when they have no question to ask while the others are expressing their views on the subject matter discussed. Students, especially in a Bible school, love asking questions when their teacher encourages them to do so.

False prophets have arisen just like the Bible forewarned. The sad truth is that some of these false prophets are unaware that they don't carry the right message. The result is that they easily transfer what they know to others who respect them. Their hearers suffer in the end because what they get cannot be traced to the scriptures. This makes it necessary to be sure that the Bible is read among Christian teachers.

Time management can improve one's performance in any project that is being undertaken. If you own a Sunday school where you teach Christian values, it would be more interesting if every program is done and none is left out, as is usually the case when the time is not well managed. Among other things such as praising, singing and praying, some quality time should also be allocated to studying the Word.

Avoid every temptation to rush a topic simply because you want to cover a lot within a given time. You may end up covering lots of topics without the children or your students understanding the messages you wanted to pass across. The duration of your lesson should depend on the age bracket of those you handle. If it takes about 50 minutes to teach a teenager, you shouldn't expect the infants to cope with the same time.

The benefits of Christian education cannot be overemphasized especially for parents who want to make sure that their children get the right teachings. For such parents, two things must not be neglected. They must know the tutor's background and be sure that the center is conducive to learning.
