Why Is Environmental Remediation Important

By Christine Green

Environment entails two main aspects, living and nonliving. From a general definition, ecology is the study of the home of an organism. Organisms are both the plants and animals. There are those factors that pollute or contaminate the environment. Nowadays, human beings are not so careful when it comes to taking care of different elements that make up the surroundings. However, each and every individual has an obligation to make sure that they observe cleanliness when it comes to water, soil and air. Therefore, it is important to understand importance of environmental remediation.

Quarrying is an activity that helps many people in earning a living across the globe. It helps many raise their standard of living. The mined granite, marble, limestone slate and sandstone were traditionally and recently used for hard flooring. Stones are used for building permanent buildings. However, this process causes noise pollution, damage to biodiversity, habitat destruction and air pollution.

This comes from dumping waste materials, such as plastic bags and bottles, in these water bodies. This activity makes the water unfit for general consumption by all creatures. The soil too is not left out. Most people think that farming is just the art of planting crops, weeding and harvesting. However, this notion has to be changed. There are some farming techniques that are very dangerous to the soil in that particular area.

It is, therefore, very crucial to understand the type of farming that fits a certain area. The kind of farming practiced in mountainous areas differs greatly with that of lowland areas. Measures should be taken to make sure that hazardous products are not released into the soil and sources of water. Different bodies that deal with environmental matters should take it upon themselves to teach people on how to take care of their surroundings.

Some are suffering greatly both financially and physically due to skin cancer which to some point it is not treatable. The poisonous gas has also led to extinct of various animals and plants. This negatively affects the wildlife. Contaminated water released from factories drains in water bodies. They lead to death of some water animals and plants. Some emit products that has oil in them thus when released into any water body they cover up the surface of the water.

It includes water surfaces which are the lakes, stream and rivers which can be contaminated by pollutants released directly to them or by runoff from the ground. Industries have a tendency of releasing these wastes into the water. Most of estates also direct their sewages into the water bodies hence contaminating them.

They work as individuals or as a team in carrying out research and come up with lasting solutions. The very first step of this process is carrying out a site assessment. This is done immediately an area is suspected to be contaminated. It is guided by the materials produced and used on that particular area in the recent past.

In conclusion, it is the responsibility of each and every one to join hands in maintaining what surrounds us. May it be soil, water and air all are important for the survival of organisms. The health and well-being of all living creatures is wholly dependent on the state of the environment. Rules and regulations have been set to ensure that the surrounding is kept safe for everyone. It is sad that some individuals cannot obey them.
